How to Create a Podcast that People Love

Would you like to create a podcast that people love? Learning how to create a podcast that people will take the time to download and listen to on a regular basis takes work. You will need to create a laser-targeted show that your audience gets value from. Plus, you will need to promote the show to your audience in multiple ways. Here are 3 steps to master if you want to create a podcast that people love.

1. Laser Target Your Audience

It is imperative that you niche down your idea to a very narrow niche audience. This way you can show your passion and more easily identify the biggest pain points for your audience.

Once you niche down your idea, it is going to make it so much easier for you to create your title, your tagline, and come up with content that your audience will love. The more you can address your audience’s struggles, obstacles and challenges, the more people will want to listen to your podcasts.

An interesting thing happens when you understand your audience more and can laser target them. You will automatically come up with the right titles, keywords, and associations for the search engines and please your audience at the same time.

It just makes life easier all the way around if you know exactly who you are going to speak to in your podcast. Plus, you will be more successful if you do this preliminary work first.

2. Get Known as A Leader

There are many ways to get known as a leader. One of them is making your podcast awesome. But another is the other things you do outside of your podcast. For example, write a book, get interviewed by other movers and shakers, go to live events. Offer your expertise to every group you are involved with.

It is simple to self-publish a book using Amazon and Create Space. To come up with a topic, try answering just one pain point for your audience.

Do not forget to mention in your book about your podcast. People who enjoy the book will want to hear your podcast and vice versa. Present yourself as an expert and leader on all your social media profiles, your web page and in your podcast description.

3. Publish Regularly

Understand that when you first start your show, you should publish more shows than ever before. This is to build up your viewership.

Also, did you know that iTunes.com will help promote you the first 8 weeks your podcast is new after it is being accepted? This is a crucial time for you to keep the show going and post more. Most experts state to publish a new show at least three times a week at first.

This is a good rule of thumb, but some experts say a daily (5 days a week) may be even better to get your audience into the habit and to help everyone get to know you faster.

We have not quite mastered doing a daily show. At My Biz Dream Team, we produce a weekly podcast show that serves a growing audience. Tune in on Wednesday for the latest episode of My Biz Dream Team: Opportunity Wednesday Training Series

Conclusion/Call to Action

By following a few proven strategies, you can create a podcast that your people love. First, laser target your audience. Niche down to a specific group. Then address their struggles, obstacles, and obstacles.

Second, get known as a leader. Do something outside of your podcast, like writing a book to showcase your expertise.

Third, publish regularly. You must publish your podcast regularly to build up your audience.

How to Quickly Build Skills that Boost Your Success

How to Quickly Build Skills that Boost Your Success

How to Quickly Build Skills that Boost Your Success

To quickly build skills that boost your success as an entrepreneur, you will need to push your boundaries and act right now. You can start slowly, or you can dive right in.

I recommend that you dive right in!

These seven tips will help you move past your fears quickly and boost your success.

As Martin Meadows, author of Confidence – How to Overcome Limiting Believes and Achieve Your Goals states, the strength of your beliefs in your ability to complete a task successfully, makes it easier to complete tasks successfully.

• Organize an Event

You should set a date and organize an event whether it is an in-person event or an online event.

If you are nervous, start with a local meet-up using Meetup.com to help.

Organizing and planning an event will teach you a lot about planning, negotiating, and deadline setting.

You can do the same thing with an online webinar, the only difference is you may need to learn modern technology while you are also learning to plan, negotiate and set deadlines.

I host a weekly teleseminar and re-purpose it into a podcast. Learn how to start your own podcast at: The Podcasting Power Playbook

Successful Networking for Entrepreneurs

Successful Networking for Entrepreneurs

Get Involved with Others

Get involved with others by either joining an organization or volunteering at a charity that you care about. Choose a group that matches your skill set so that there will be a lot of things for you to do that prove your worth and help you improve your skills.

I enjoy being involved with Rotary International. There are more than 1.2 million members world-wide who work to have a positive impact in their local community and across the globe.

I get the opportunity to help the community and showcase my expertise as a public speaker.

• Improve Your Communication Skills

One of the most important parts of being an entrepreneur is being able to communicate. One way to improve your communication skills is to learn to give speeches and talk to people. You can join a local Toastmasters International club to help you get better at your communication skills.

You can start your own podcast to ease into public speaking and improving your communication skills. I host a weekly podcast on achieving entrepreneurial success. You can find the podcast on my website and on iTunes.

To find how to start your own podcast, checkout: The Podcasting Power Playbook

• Become the Expert

One way to develop your entrepreneurial mindset is to become an expert in your niche. Write blog posts, contribute guest articles, and write a book, host webinars, host local events and more. The more you do to develop your expertise, the more confidence you will have and the more successful you will become.

To learn more about becoming the expert and building your authority status, check out: The New Entrepreneur's Guide to Getting Known and Being Seen

• Learn Something New Regularly

If you just devote one hour a day to learning something new, then move on to something else when you master the first thing, you will be able to keep your skills topnotch and develop them even better than you can without a plan of action.

• Go to Networking Events

Do not network with only people you are comfortable with that are competition. Instead find events to attend that consist of your ideal clients / customers / audience so that you can learn more from them. Then, network smartly and keep your ears open and listen more than you talk.

For more information on successful networking check out:  How to Network Like an Awesome Entrepreneur

• Learn to Delegate

No CEO does everything on their own and that is true of an entrepreneur, too. Whether you have a very small home business or a larger business, you will likely need to learn to delegate something. Even if it is just letting your spouse handle childcare duties and dinner on work days, that is something.

Read more about how to delegate to your team in this blog post: Delegate to Your Business Dream Team to Multiply Your Success

Conclusion/Call to Action

Improving your skills as an entrepreneur is not an overnight task and you will never be finished. However, by following a few tips you can quickly build skills that boost your success.

Your journey as an entrepreneur is ever evolving and changing. You may be surprised that what you are doing today is very different from what you will be doing tomorrow. But, that is how an entrepreneur stays successful. They adapt to change and develop the skills they need to stay competitive.

Follow these seven tips to quickly build skills that boost your success as an entrepreneur:

3 Tips for Building a Solid Business Foundation

3 Tips for Building a Solid Business Foundation

3 Tips for Building a Solid Business Foundation

3 Tips for Building a Solid Business Foundation

Have you ever wondered why some business owners seem to have it all together? They are always on-time. The products and services are meticulously presented. Everything is under control! Have they found the secret for building a solid business foundation?

In contrast, other business owners can not seem to get out of the door with a matching pair of shoes. They are always harried and frantic.

You may be wondering, what makes one so professional and the other one such an amateur.

Do you want to know the secret?

I bet that you do!

Well, the difference between the two is that the professional business owner understands the beauty of systems. Yes, the secret for building a solid business foundation is creating systems for your business.

The frantic business owner re-invents the wheel every day.

Can you imagine what your life and business would look like if you figured out the best, most efficient way to get things done?  What if you created systems for your business? How would your life and business improve?

This episode of My Biz Dream Team: Opportunity Wednesday Training Series is about how you can strategically create systems for your business.

Listen in to find out about establishing systems for your business that will help you build a solid foundation for your business

1. Building a Solid Business Foundation with Systems

To truly build a solid business foundation you need to determine the systems that you need for your business. To do this, first make a list of every task and function that will be part of your business. Then determine whether the function or task can be

  • Automated,
  • Out-sourced, or
  • Done by you.

My advice is not to do tasks or functions that will not benefit from your personal involvement. For example, if you are not a graphic designer, do not create the designs for your business. Out-source the project.  There are several expert graphic designers who will do a better job than you.

Only do those things that will build your reputation more quickly.

My motto: Do what you do best; Delegate the rest!

2. Automate Your Email List System

I found out early in my business that I needed a system to capture and organize the names and email addresses of people interested in what I had to offer. These were people who bought my products or were intrigued by my free offers. It is much easier to have my clients and potential clients to opt-in to an automated email list than trying to keep track by hand.

Click here to read my article: How to Get Started Quickly with Email Marketing

3. Automate Your Content Management System

I am calling your website, your content management system.  The best option around is WordPress. Your content is easily accessible and manageable. In addition, there are numerous plug-ins made especially for WordPress that can customize your site for you.

Click here to listen to my podcast: Top WordPress Plugins: Interview with Adrienne Dupree

Conclusion/Call to Action

Are you willing to build a solid foundation for your business? If so, then build high quality systems into the DNA of your business.

Follow these 3 tips to build a solid business foundation:

1.    Start by building systems into your business

2.    Automate your email marketing

3.    Automate your content management system

Following this advice will take you a long way to business growth and long-term success.

How to Get Started with Public Speaking

How to Get Started with Public Speaking

How to Get Started with Public Speaking

How to Get Started with Public Speaking

Have you ever wondered how to get started with public speaking? It is not written in stone that you must get up in front of a large audience and put on a full, two-hour presentation. There are many ways to get started with public speaking. The trick is to find ways that are within your comfort zone. Then you move yourself slightly out of your comfort zone with each step that you conquer.

Here are a few strategies that you might find helpful to help you get stated with public speaking.

  1. Get Comfortable Online

Create a Skype or teleconference workshop for people you know well – and who you know would be supportive.

Think about members of any active forum you belong to, your Facebook industry intimates, fellow Facebook Group members, your subscribers or online friends that share the same hobby or career as you.

Make it small and on one topic you have already mastered.

Better yet, make your group teleconference a regular feature, so that you grow comfortable presenting to others.

We have a weekly teleseminar training series that we repurpose into a podcast. It is a wonderful way to get comfortable with public speaking. To find out more about starting your own podcast, check out Podcasting Power.

  1. Host a Local Workshop

Do you belong to any local business organizations? Then offer to host a local workshop on a topic you know well.

Prepare handouts. For example, you could prepare a tip sheet, or summary of the points you made, or outline of the methods you used. A list of resources is also a popular handout.

  1. Volunteer to Give a Storytelling Session at a Local School

You may be amazed at how responsive even the most rambunctious audience will be. Children naturally love stories, and if you can successfully tell a story to your own children – or you have just taken a storytelling course – you can do this at a school.

  1. Give Free Short Mini-Talks at Local Business Meetings

Local business organizations are always looking for guest speakers. Hone your skills by volunteering to give mini-talks on a single topic. Keep them to fifteen minutes or less. That way, you are not responsible for an entire event – just a small segment of it – and you can get your feet wet in comfort.

  1. Be the Lifesaver

Local business organizations often find that their scheduled speaker is a no-show. The point is, be the one who is heroically ready to fill the gap. Therefore, before every local business meeting, have a short speech totally prepared and practiced on a relevant topic.

The practice will help decrease your nervousness and improve your public speaking skills. You will be ready to save the day and be the lifesaver.

How to Get Started with Public Speaking

How to Get Started with Public Speaking

  1. Create a Paid Product

Pre-record your speech and use it to promote a product. The trick is making sure that the speech itself is as value-rich as your paid product – and that both are unique, original and exactly what your audience needs.

Those are eight ways to dip your foot into the stream of public speaking. Now let us see how we can accelerate your public speaking career by helping your great reputation spread like wildfire.

  1. Live Public Speaking

Even if you only have a gig or two under your belt, live your dream with passion. If you do – if all your focus for now is on developing your career in public speaking – you will find yourself naturally “talking it up” with genuine enthusiasm.

Let people know why you love giving presentations, what you specialize in, where you have spoken, what you have to offer – and most of all, let them know you are available.

  1. Carry Business Cards

Make sure you always carry business cards positioning yourself as a public speaker.

Then when you do talk up your public speaking abilities, hand out more than one per person. Ask people to pass your cards on if they know someone who might find hiring you the solution to a problem.

  1. Specialize

While many entrepreneurs are quite capable of speaking well on a variety of topics to a variety of audiences, your best strategy lies in specializing – becoming known as the expert in one specific area of one niche field.

  1. Focus on Your Promise

A good speech includes a promise of what people are going to take away if they stay and listen. A great speech delivers on that promise by the end of the speech – and reminds the audience they have done so.

Always spend time on your promise. What is it going to be for this audience? Can you kick it up a notch or two?

  1. Create Website Presences

You need to be findable online as a public speaker – so make sure you place that information in several different website spots. You can create:

  •  A speaker profile, cv or bio in your Media Section

  • A “Hire [Your Name] to Speak” section

  • A contact form for public speaking inquiries

  • Another website only for your public speaking, including transcripts or samples of past speeches

 12. Attend Conferences and Networking Events

These are fantastic places to make connections in your own niche or industry. Even if you do not find anyone there to hire you, networking strong personal contacts can lead to recommendations from those contacts.

  1. Volunteer

Offer to speak at your local Chamber of Commerce, civic groups, and other business and service-oriented organizations. Many offer monthly meetings and are always on the hunt for speakers, so it is a wonderful way to build up your speaking chops while helping a worthy cause.

  1. Join Groups

Join both online and offline groups that include or focus on public speaking. Look beyond your local Toastmasters chapter, to include local business organizations that need and use speakers at every meeting. Also, join focused LinkedIn and Facebook Groups.

These groups can give you plenty of practice – and exposure.

  1. Just Ask!

Approach organizations you want to speak to. Find out the name of the correct person to contact – and send a query letter and/or your Speaker Profile Sheet.

Outline either one huge benefit to the organization or list three to five strong benefits. Give them the same promise you would include in your speech.

Conclusion/Call to Action

Learning how to get started with public speaking is essential to building your visibility, credibility, and authority status. Remember that you are your business. You must learn to accelerate the spread of your message to help you build and grow your business. By following a few proven- strategies you can be on your way to creating the life of your dreams.

5 Tips for Successful Networking for Entrepreneurs

What if you had five tips for successful networking for entrepreneurs?

Would that help you to make new contacts with potential clients?  Would a few time-proven tips for successful networking for entrepreneurs give your business the opportunity to get a needed boost of innovative ideas or capital? Perhaps you would you gain greater visibility, credibility, and authority as you build relationships

If so, then read on to learn about how to become a savvy networker. In this article I share with you the strategies that I have used over the years as an attorney, author, entrepreneur, and speaker to connect to hundreds of people who have been helpful to both my business and my career.

1. Do Your Homework Before the Event

Study the event literature ahead of time. Check out the event’s Facebook page, if it has one. Be sure to make a note of people you would like to meet at the event.

Then look up the people you would like to meet on LinkedIn or Facebook. But do not be creepy about it.

For example, do not research every detail of their personal lives and then scare your new contacts.

Know just enough to focus on one thing – their specialty is the best bet. For example, you can truthfully say, “I hear you are the expert to go to, when it comes to setting up a podcast.”

Be careful not to ask for free advice on your WordPress podcasting plugin conflict. Instead focus on your contact. Give him an opportunity to talk about why he loves podcasting.

If you think you can absolutely use your new contact’s services, ask if she has an opening for a new client.

Exchange business cards or contact details, promise to call or email about your needs. Then contact him within twenty-four hours.

2. Bring Someone with You

If you are shy or nervous about attending the event, ask someone to go with you. Choose carefully and choose someone whose presence would add to the event. Ask someone who would genuinely enjoy it.

For example, if you are going to a “small business organization” conference and the friendly administrative assistant who helps you with social media expresses an interest, she will most likely be the perfect guest to take.

Having someone supportive and professionally savvy with you helps defuse shyness. Also, you can introduce each other to key people you know will be good contacts.

3. Set Personal Goals

This is different from your main goal in attending a networking event. Set personal goals only you will ever know about for the event itself.

For example, if you are “bad with names,” plan to learn and remember the names of six people.

These goals should be unique to you and designed to help get you past blocks.

For example, plan to get contact information from five people if you are hesitant about asking for business cards or email addresses. Or plan to simply talk to three people during each break.

When you are focused on meeting a goal, you are more likely to push yourself. That is when you will meet or even exceed your goals.

4. Organize the Event Yourself

One of the best ways to defuse fear of attending networking events lies in organizing one yourself. Here are a few tips to help you organize a successful networking event:

  •  Find out everything you can about organizing a successful event
  • Decide what type would best suit your intended audience and your level of comfort
  • Hire an experienced assistant – or recruit an experienced volunteer, if you do not have experience organizing events
  • Find an industry peer to co-host it with you.
  • Keep the event as simple as possible.

Once you have organized a networking event you will never feel quite as intimidated or bored with a networking event again.

5. Follow Up After the Event

Do not just connect with people.

Look for opportunities to help them.

For example, do you have a template back at your home office that would solve your new contact’s problem?

Is there a link you can share to a valuable resource?

Promise to send whatever it is that you have told your new contact about, if she is receptive. Then be sure to follow up when you get home and send it straight away. Sending it within twenty-four hours is the norm, and what people will look for.

Here is another helpful hint to use after the event. You should always try having something valuable you can send or share. This is a natural way to get your new contact’s email address.

If your new contact lives in the same city, invite her out for lunch or for coffee. Also, let her know about other events you think she might like.

If your new contact lives out of town and you hear she is going to visit, put her up at your house if the two of you have really hit it off.

If the connection is not quite strong enough for that, arrange to have breakfast or lunch when she is in town.

  • Follow Up

How to Develop a Success Mindset Checklist

As an entrepreneur have you ever wondered how to develop a success mindset? Many associates, friends, and clients have often asked me this question. However, before I share my strategies with you, I want to provide some background context for my response.

First, we must address what is a success mindset. In my view, a success mindset is a sincere belief in yourself and your competence. The way that you think and feel about yourself permeates everything that you do.

But you may be wondering, why is it important for an entrepreneur to have a success mindset. I say that having a successful mindset can make the difference between having a successful business and a failed one.

Also, having a success mindset can make all the difference in your personal satisfaction and business success.

Developing a success mindset is the key.

But how do you develop a success mindset?  Here are some strategies that I have used to develop a success mindset, that you can easily implement yourself.

1.     Challenge Yourself

If you might find yourself getting negative about your business, it may be because you are not challenged. If it is just too easy to meet your goals, perhaps your goals are not high enough. Challenge yourself.

2.     Keep Positive Company

When you hang around with negative people their negative attitudes tend to rub off. Your acquaintances might be jealous of you. They may be threatened by your success. Try to keep company with upbeat people whose excitement is contagious.

3.     Remember Your Why

Keep a list handy of all the reasons you started your business. Look at it whenever you feel overwhelmed or negative. Remind yourself of why you are doing this.

This list might include financial goals, too. Remember why you want to earn that money.

4.     Do not Blame Others

Do not blame others for your failures. Of course, it is not good to beat yourself up over your failures, either.

The healthy way to handle failure is to take responsibility for the failure and learn from it. Think of it as a motivational moment. You can improve and not make the same mistakes again.

5.     Be Bold

Sometimes, you can exhibit a negative mindset by being too cautious. If you always feel the need to have several back-ups plans before taking any risk or venture, it can hold you back. Being sensible about risks is healthy but being overly cautious can paralyze you.

Therefore, be bold in your approach to your business. Dare to be different!
